Sustainability Ingrained, Since 2003.

Buying Amish-made furniture offers numerous benefits, primarily stemming from its sustainability practices. The Amish community is renowned for their commitment to environmental stewardship and craftsmanship. These artisans use sustainably harvested wood, often from their own land, reducing the impact on forests and promoting responsible forestry. The furniture is handcrafted with precision and durability in mind, ensuring it lasts for generations, reducing the need for frequent replacements and curbing waste. Additionally, the Amish eschew modern machinery in favor of traditional, energy-efficient tools, minimizing their carbon footprint. By choosing Amish-made furniture, you not only acquire beautifully crafted pieces but also contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.

WHY AMISH FURNITURE?

Gish's Furniture provides a vast selection of handcrafted, solid hardwood furniture, custom-made in the USA by the finest Amish craftsmen, so that each purchase you make will be an investment that lasts for generations. Our vision is to make our stores the best place to purchase home furnishings in our communities, while providing exceptional customer service and outstanding value.

We carry a wide range of Amish furniture, from kitchen tables and hutches, to bedroom furniture and baby cribs, all custom-made to match your home's décor. Our Amish furniture is typically made of cherry, oak, and maple. However, if you prefer more exotic woods like elm or walnut, our craftsmen can make your furniture with those as well.

At Gish's, our furniture is finished with a catalyzed conversion varnish. This creates a hard, resilient finish that still displays the beauty and charm of the wood. There's no need to worry about water rings because the durability and strength are much greater than pre-catalyzed lacquer or polyurethane.

Invest in heirloom quality furniture for your home, it will serve as the foundation of family memories for generations to come.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Michael Gish, son of A. Samuel and Grace Gish, is the founder of Gish's Furniture. Michael is married to Teresa Gish, and they have two sons, Matthew and Ezekiel. Michael and Teresa opened their first store, aptly named Gish's Furniture, in 2003.

Before opening his own stores, Michael worked in Ohio for Miller's Furniture, and was the founder of Miller-Gish finishing. This unique background is where he learned about Amish furniture: how it's made, the meticulous nature of a quality finish, craftsmanship, and heirloom quality.

Miller-Gish finishing was a company that specialized in finishing furniture with a catalyzed conversion varnish. Working with fine furniture and expert craftsmen allowed Gish to quickly develop a multifaceted knowledge base. He also realized how rare long-lasting furniture is. He knew Pennsylvania would benefit from having an exclusively Amish furniture retailer, and so Gish's Furniture was born.

What started as one store soon became four, with locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. As the company expanded, Gish was sure to stay true to the business's roots—to this day it is still a family run business, with Michael's wife, mother, father and brother all facilitating its growth.
